Raiders of the Lost Ark(itecture): TYPO3 in the Cultural Heritage Domain
The Digital Academy is a publicly funded research department that develops and maintains a large number of TYPO3-based research applications to make cultural heritage available on the web. We would like to take the audience on an adventure across highly domain-specific data models, encounters with a demanding user base of academics, and into the wonderous lands of the Semantic Web. Our use of TYPO3 is a case study in how to keep projects alive for more than 15 years, with limited funding, and via progressive updates instead of relaunches. We want to show how a set of reusable, interoperable extensions handle various types of research data and provide not just UIs but also standardized APIs.
