TYPO3 testing-framework debunked - Roadmap and Upgrade guide for the rescue
Are you already using the core testing-framework and you have to upgrade to support newer
TYPO3 core versions? You don't know what steps you have to do, which steps you could do
and how to plan accordingly?
Targeting mainly developers already using the core testing-framework, in some versions,
I will give you an overview of the latest versions for the community supported core
versions and what each version provides and supports.
On top if this, I would give you a generic roadmap at hand for upgrading the testing-framework
aligned to core versions. For example, which is the minimum needed steps to do for the next
version, which can be done directly or later and what is needed (and why).
I want to debunk some myths, that the testing-framework is hard to use and upgrade.
With the roadmap at hand you will most likely see that a lot of effort is done to
provide up to dual core version testing per testing-framework version and helping
with upgrade paths as easy as possible.
I will also outline at some points, which are needed changes by other frameworks
and tools and which is done to mitigate some of these efforts for intermediate
solutions.
